GPS is less accurate under thick trees and next to tall buildings. A reading only counts when it's close to the path and you're moving in the same direction as the path, so that walking beside a path doesn't count as walking it. Walking the path again usually fills in any gaps.

A bad GPS reading can occasionally jump onto a nearby path. Open Walks and delete the walk with the bad track. Your progress is recalculated from the walks that are left, so the wrong credit disappears.

The map comes from Fairfax County data, which doesn't have every path. Open My Paths, tap +, and tap out the shape of the path on the map. It's added to your network right away, and any walks you already recorded that crossed it get credit.

Yes. The whole trail network and all the places come with the app. GPS doesn't need cell service. Only the background map from Apple Maps may be missing detail in areas you haven't viewed before.

The app uses GPS only while you're recording a walk, and stops when you end it. Remember to end the walk when you're done.

No. The watch records on its own. When your watch and iPhone are back in range of each other, the walk syncs and shows up on your iPhone's map.
